An Old Settler Gone.
The death of Mr. John Vonderheide, aged 71 years, occurred at 9:30 o'clock yesterday morning at his farm in Ellington township, from the effects of old age complicated with la grippe.
Mr. Vonderheide was born in Hanover, Germany. In 1829 or sixty-two years ago he came to America and has made Adams county his abiding place ever since. At one time he was a resident of this city. About thirty years ago he moved to a farm in Ellington township where he remained until his death. A wife and six children survive him. The children are: Bernhart Vonderheide, of West Point, Nebraska; Mrs. Chris Laake, of Melrose, and Mary, Joseph, Ferdinand and Josephine Vonderheide, of Ellington.
Deceased was known all over the county and in this community, and was respected and esteemed for his many sterling qualities. He was a good father, a kind and indulgent husband, and Adams county loses a good citizen as well as one of her oldest settlers.
Funeral notice will be announced later.
