He was born Dec. 11, 1919, in Cripple Creek, Va., the son of the late John Franklin Aker and Susan Aker Smith.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Irvene Littreal Aker; sister, Edith Maude Richardson; and half-sister, Mae Sexton.
Curtis was a member of Liberty Hill Pentecostal Holiness Church and attended Mount Hope United Methodist Church.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and retired Civil Engineer with the town of Bel Air, Md.
Survivors include his children, Brenda Gail Davis, Joyce Ann Coldiron ,and Curtis David Aker Jr.; two half-sisters, Naomi Lineberry of Galax, Va., and Margaret Neville of Bel Air, Md. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 13, 2014, at Mount Hope United Methodist Church with the Rev. Bobby Dunford officiating. Interment followed in Mount Hope Cemetery. Grayson VFW Post #7726 will conduct graveside military rites.
