Mrs. Carlton was born in Caldwell County to the late William H. and Bula Day Barnette.
She was a homemaker and a member of Green Rock Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Margarett Ann Carlton; four brothers, Tony Barnette, Willie Barnette, James Barnette and Charlie Barnette; and a sister, Avis Marie Barnette.Survivors include her husband, Raymond Carlton of the home; one son, Mark Ray Carlton of Granite Falls; two brothers, Raby Barnette and Hubert Barnette, both of Lenoir; and one sister, Mable B. Hollifield of Lenoir; and one grandson, Christopher Ray Carlton.
Funeral services will be conducted by the Rev. Allen Younce at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 6, 2004, at Granite Funeral Service Chapel.Burial will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.The family will receive friends at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 6, 2004 at Granite Funeral Service."
