Mrs. Bettis, 73, Dies
Laura M. Bettis, 73, of 609 W. Fillmore, died Thursday afternoon at 1:30 p.m. at the Nelson Nursing Home. She had been ill for several years.
Services will be Monday at 1 p.m. at the Behner Funeral Home with the Rev. Donald L. Hickman officiating. Burial in Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation Sunday night 7-8 p.m. at the furneral home.
She was born November 11, 1905 at Marshfield, Ohio (sic. that city is not found in the FindAGrave location listings for Ohio), the daughter of Bud and Ella Hill Douds. She married Cecil Bettis June 23, 1923 at Albia. He died June 15, 1978. She had lived in the Fairfield community for 37 years.
Surviving are two daughters, Mildred Philips, Keosauqua; Ruth Pothoven, St. Louis, Mo.; her stepfather, Paul Raymie. Newton; four grandchildren and two sisters; Alta Rosson, Collinsville, Ill. and LaBelle Robson, Newton, Iowa. She was preceded in death by one brother.
