Son of Springer Belville & Mahala Burton Belville. Married Mary Elizabeth Runyan 19 Jan 1882. James was loved by his children, especially his youngest girl Etta. He was a "Tinker" by trade and traveled around repairing pots and pans, etc. His life was cut short by "cholera". This health problem is caused by eating food or drinking water contaminated with human feces. Within 2 hours of exhibiting cholera symptoms, an individual can be dehydrated to the point of death. It is interesting to note that James's mother Mahala died one month after James. One could assume that same ailment took her life. James was respected by his son Benjamin, my grandfather. His death left a large hole in the life of his wife "Lib" and the children as they struggled to survive in his absence.
