Harry L. Abbott Sr., 98, Independence, died Jan. 20, 1993, at the Independence Regional Health Center. Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the Carson Independence Chapel; burial in Mount Washington Cemetery. Friends may call from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today at the chapel. Mr. Abbott was born in Chester, Pa., and had lived in this area since 1912. He was a manager at the Standard Oil Co. Sugar Creek refinery before he retired. He was a 32nd-degree Mason and a member of the Mount Washington Masonic Lodge and Ararat Shrine. He was a member of the Fairmount Christian Church. His wife, Mary Belle Abbott, died in 1991. Survivors include a son, Harry L. Abbott Jr., Raytown; a daughter, Mary E. Farmer, Fort Worth, Texas; a grandson; and four great-grandchildren.
