William D. VanHorn age 93 of Grove City passed away March 15, 2014 at Mt. Carmel Medical Center.

He was born in Nashport, Ohio on November 17, 1920 to Ida May and William F. VanHorn.

He was a member of Grove City United Methodist Church, West Gate Masonic Lodge #623 F&AM, Shriners, Scottish Rite, Reynoldsburg VFW and the Swiss Club-HBS.

After attending Muskingum College and graduating from The Ohio State University he began a career in accounting retiring from both Nationwide Insurance and Borden Inc.

Bill was a proud WWII Army Veteran serving in the Counter Intelligence Corps where he served in the Philippines and Japan and was awarded the Bronze Star.

Preceded in death by his wife Betty J. and son Jack B. VanHorn,

He is survived by his daughter Toni (Garry) VanHorn-Stephenson, daughter-in-law, Deborah (Joe Wingard), grandson, Seth VanHorn, granddaughter, Kelsey VanHorn, grandson, Darin (Aki) Cooper and the treasured blended family members, Diana Weingand, Jan (Jennifer) Wisecarver, Jeff (Lila) Wisecarver and Cheryl (Doug) Thomas, grandchildren, Jan (Karma) Wisecarver, Jr., Mariah (Jason) Storts, Natalie(Kevin) Rucker, Aaron and Rachael Steffy and numerous great-grandchildren.

Friends may visit Wednesday from 11:00 until time of funeral at 1:00 PM at Spence-Miller Funeral Home 2697 Columbus Street Grove City. Pastor Tom Wilson officiating.

Interment with military rites will follow at Glen Rest Memorial Estates.
