Jemima was captured along with Elizabeth and Frances, daughters of Colonel Richard Callaway, on July 14, 1776, by an Indian raiding party as they were floating in a canoe on the Kentucky River near Boonesborough, Kentucky. Flanders was one of the rescuing party.
