Oscar T. Koontz, 69, 5006 Morningside Avenue, died at a hospital Sunday, after a three-year illness.

Mr., Koontz was born at Woodsfield, O., February 3, 1886. He moved to Wheeling, W. Va., as an infant, and to a farm near Holly Springs at the age of 14. He married Rose Eggers of Holly Springs there June 14, 1923.

The couple moved to Sioux City in 1945. Mr. Koontz was a member of the English Lutheran church at Wheeling and later joined the German City Evangelical Reformed church at Hornick.

Survivors are the widow; a brother, Fred of Cedar Falls, la.; and two sisters, Mrs. Edna Rose of Hornick and Mrs. Effie Muter of Miamiville, O.

The body was taken to the W. Harry Christy funeral home in Morningside.
