Roy "Rodney" Clyde Payne, Jr., age 59, beloved son, brother, uncle, nephew, and friend, entered into rest on Thursday, March 13, 2014. Graveside services will be held at 11:00AM on Tuesday, March 18, 2014, in Oaklawn Cemetery, 720 S. Camellia Blvd. in Fort Valley, with Rev. Bryan McPherson officiating. Family will greet friends from 6:00PM to 8:00PM on Monday, March 17, 2014, at Rooks Funeral Home, 213 West Church Street in Fort Valley. Born in Montezuma on July 13, 1954, Roy was baptized as a child into the Baptist faith. He graduated from Southwest High School in Macon, attended Wesleyan College on the Governor's Honor Program, and was trained in electronics. He proudly served his country in the U. S. Air Force and was currently employed at Robins Air Force Base. He thoroughly enjoyed gun collecting. His father, Roy C. Payne, Sr. and sister, Pamela Diana Payne preceded him in death. Roy's memory will always be treasured by his mother, Mary Adams Payne, and his brothers, Mark Payne, Stan Payne, and Greg Payne. He loved his brothers and nieces dearly, and was a staunch friend to them all through his life, and they to him. He was loved by his mother with a love that only another parent could understand.
