Mrs. Mary Jane Small, wife of Mr. William Small, died on the last Sunday night shortly after 9 o'clock, after a few days illness. Deceased was in the 64th year of age at the time of her death. She was a member of the Cumberland Presbyterian church, and was also a consistent member of the Ladies Union Prayer-Meeting, and was a most kind-hearted, charitable woman, living in the respect and esteem of everyone with whom she came in contact. The funeral services were conducted at the residence at 10 o'clock by Rev. J.H. Thompson, and interment took place in Rose Hill cemetery. Deceased leaves the following children to mourn her sad departure: Messrs. Will and Charles Small and Miss Minnie Small, o this city, and Mrs. Charles Porter of Nashville. The bereaved relative have the deepest sympathy of everyone in their loss.... - Columbia Herald, June 9, 1899.
