Johnny Allen Stevens, 57, of Truth or Consequences died Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2004, at his home.
He was born on Dec. 18, 1946, in Hot Springs, to John Lee and Dorothy Marie Martin Stevens.
He was a retired meter reader for PNM Gas Company. He was raised in Kingston and graduated from Hot Springs High School.
He worked for Lake Valley Cattle Company as a ranch hand and cowboy. He moved to Clovis in 1974 to work for Southern Union Gas Company. He moved to Portales in 1981 and returned to Truth or Consequences in 1998. Family members said he enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Survivors include a son, Jake L. Stevens, who is serving in the U.S. Army in Baghdad, Iraq; a daughter, Norma L. Sanchez (and husband, Rick) of Clovis; two sisters, Vivian Morris (Tom) of Truth or Consequences and Marie Grider (Ben) of Melrose; a brother, Timothy Stevens (Gladys) of Alamogordo; four grandchildren, Ricky, Stephanie, Jeremu and Jerimiah Sanchez; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Cremation has taken place.
Arrangments are by French Mortuary and Cremation Services Inc. of Truth or Consequences.
