Michael Joseph Lentz, 84, died at 3:45 AM Monday, April 27, 1998, at Heritage Healthcare, West Lafayette, where he had been a patient one week, following a year of illness. Born July 18, 1913, at Kenosha, WI, he was a graduate of St. Katherine High School in Racine, WI, and had attended Marquette, Wisconsin, and Dayton universities. He married Lois E. Kolb on July 3, 1937, in Kenosha, WI.

Mr. Lentz had lived in Lafayette since 1967. He was a manager and assistant manager at several retail stores in this area. He then worked for Anthrop's Shell for 15 years, retiring in 1992. He was a member of St. Mary Cathedral, American Legion Post 11, Navy Club and American Association of Retired Persons. A Navy veteran of World War II, he served in the Pacific theater.

He was an Eagle Scout and a Boy Scout leader. Among the places he did volunteer work was George Davis Manor and the Red Cross, where he was an instructor in first aid and safety. He was a member of one of the first rescue squad in Wisconsin.

Surviving with his wife is a son, David J. Lentz of Lafayette.
