She was born in Pembroke the daughter of William Gilbert Strong of Littleton and Henriette Henaff of Lambezellec, France. She was a graduate of Concord High School.
During World War II she worked for Pratt Whitney in Hartford, Conn. She worked for Sprague Electric in the stockroom and as an assembler for 32½ years, retiring in 1991.
From 1938 to 1947, she was known as Sally the Yodeling Cowgirl, and toured and sang with Duke and Swing Billies as a guitar player and singer. She was well known and made many singing appearances on radio programs throughout New Hampshire and Maine.
She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary Fraternal Order of Eagles, Ladies Auxiliary VFW Post 1631, loved her vegetable garden, going to yard sales and was a caregiver to her sister Henrietta.
She was predeceased by her husband, John A. Chroniak Sr. who died in 1981 and her long-time companion, Leo Cimikoski.
Family members include two daughters, Leta Ricard of Pembroke, and Deborah Chroniak of Concord; one son; John A. Chroniak Jr. of Concord; one grandson and one sister; Henrietta M. Strong.
SERVICES: Calling hours are 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at Waters Funeral Home, 50 South Main St.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. John the Evangelist Church, 72 South Main St.
Burial will follow at Blossom Hill Cemetery.
