Helen Marie Burgess was born in East Carroll Parish, Louisiana on June 17, 1928 to James Arthur and Belle Myra (Perry) Works. She grew up in Monticello, Louisiana where she met Denwell L. Burgess whom she married on February 4, 1945. She was married to Denwell Burgess for over fifty-seven years.

Mrs. Burgess was employed for many years by the Brown & Root Construction Company in Houston, Texas. Later she went to work on a part time basis for the City of Deer Park, Texas where she remained until 2012.

She is survived by one sister, Edwina Young of Deer Park, Texas; three children, Joyce Cash of Shore Acres, Texas, Darrell L. Burgess of Deer Park, Texas and Suzanne Badeaux and husband William C. of LaPorte, Texas; seven grandchildren, Tyler W. Svetlik, D. Jordan Svetlik, Jeffrey L. Burgess, Ashley S. Daigle, Jessica L. Frinsco, William L. Badeaux and Clayton B. Badeaux and five great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Saturday, March 15, 2014 in the chapel of Cox Funeral Home-Delhi with Pastor Jim Lamb officiating.
Visitation will be held from 5-7 PM Friday at Cox Funeral Home in Delhi.
Burial will be in the Herringville Baptist Church Cemetery under the direction of Cox Funeral Home of Delhi.

Pallbearers will be Clayton B. Badeaux, William L. Badeaux, Tyler W. Svetlik, David Jordan Svetlik, Jeff L. Burgess and Kenneth W. Young.
