TERRE HAUTE — Darrell S. Crawford, 82, of Terre Haute, passed away Sunday, Dec. 12, 2010, at 5:51 a.m., in Union Hospital.
He retired in 1997 after 30 years as maintenance mechanic at Alcan.
Darrell was born March 22, 1928, in Terre Haute, to Sevellan H. Crawford and Iretta (Woods) Crawford.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Mary Jayne (Miller) Crawford; three daughters, Michelle Walden and husband Steve, and Melinda and husband Charles, all of Terre Haute, and Melany Bradshaw of Sullivan; six grandchildren, Heather Morris and her fiancé Mike Norris, Courtney Walters and husband Kris, Kaitlyn Dickerson, Kristin Dickerson, Matthew Dickerson, and Shawn Walden and wife April; five great-grandchildren, Joseph, Landon, Leighton, Owen, and Shane; four nephews, George Euriga, Patrick Euriga, Mark Dressler, and Darrell Dressler; and many great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Rita Dressler.
Darrell was a U.S. Army veteran, and member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, the Alcan Retirement Club (AAA), and was an avid hunter and enjoyed bowling.
Visitation is Wednesday, Dec. 15, 2010, from 4 to 7 p.m., in Callahan-DeBaun Funeral Home, 2425 Wabash Ave., with a prayer service at 7 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be Thursday, Dec. 16, 2010, at 11 a.m., in St. Patrick Catholic Church, with Father Rick Ginther officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that for those who desire, memorial contributions may be made to either: St. Patrick Catholic Church, St. Patrick Soup Kitchen, or the charity of donor's choice.
