U.S. Congressman. After graduating from Clarion Normal School in 1892, he taught school, graduated from the Dickinson Law School in 1896, was admitted to the bar and commenced practicing law at St. Mary's, Pennsylvania. Entering politics, he was elected as a Republican to the Sixty-sixth and Sixty-seventh Congresses, serving from 1919 to 1923. An unsuccessful candidate for re-nomination, he was vice president and general manager of the Emporium Forestry Company, plus director and general counsel of the Grasse River Railroad Corporation, until his death.
