1954- 2014
CLINTON - Our beloved mother, wife, and grandmother passed away March 13, 2014 after an eleven-year battle with cancer. Cheri loves her Savior Jesus Christ and she exemplified His teachings in her daily life. She touched many lives by treating everyone with kindness and love.
Cheri devoted her life to serving others. She served in many ward and stake callings in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served several terms as Clinton City Councilwoman. She gained the respect of the community for earnestly representing the concerns of the citizens as her priority.
Her faith and family were the treasure of her life. She raised five admirable children who are solid in the things that matter most. Cheri was a proud mother of three girls and two boys, whom she raised with great love and tender care. Cheri was privileged to be a grandmother to five wonderful grandsons.
She was born to Jack and Virginia Powers June 5, 1954 in Provo, Utah. Cheri grew up in Granger, and St. George, Utah. She graduated from Utah State University with a degree in journalism in 1978 and was a journalist for the Standard Examiner, Lakeside Review and Herald Journal. She married Robert Alan Reed in the Salt Lake City Temple on September 16, 1977.
Cheri enjoyed boating, gardening, reading and studying the scriptures, family history, and spending time with her family and friends.
Her family and friends loved her dearly, and will miss her wonderful example and love. She was a true disciple of Jesus Christ who persevered through many challenges, and made the most of her time on earth. She has an indomitable spirit.
She is survived by her husband, children Jacqueline (Cody) Carpenter, Janalee (Trevor) Kimball, Megan (Ben) Hilton, Steven Reed, and Jeffrey Reed. She is also survived by mother Virginia Powers, sisters Kathy Payne, Carol Barton, Lynne Anne Powers, and Michelle Smith. She was preceded in death by her father Jack Powers.
Funeral Services will be Monday, March 17, 2014 at 11:00 am at the Clinton West Stake Center 2140 West 1800 North, Clinton, Utah. A viewing will be held Sunday, March 16, 2014 from 6:30 to 8:30 pm at the Clinton West Stake Center. Family and close friends may visit the family from 9:30 to 10:30 on Monday, prior to the funeral.
Interment at the Clinton City Cemetery.
