MELVIN 'BOB' HOLT SR
VERONA - Mr. Melvin "Bob" Holt, 77, of 5621 Sunwood Lane, Verona, died on Monday morning, November 15, 1999 at the Oneida Health Care Center after an extended illness.
Mr. Holt was born on February 3, 1922 in Greig, N.Y., a son of James and Iva Rasmussen Holt, and received his education in local schools. Mr. Holt served his country as a mess hall Staff Sergeant and medic in the United States Army during World War II. While in Berlin, Germany, Melvin was united in marriage to Kate Kiewat and has enjoyed this union of marriage than fifty-one years.
Mr. Holt was employed by the Rome Developmental Center as a head cook until his retirement in 1976. Mr. Holt was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed nature, gardening, fishing, hunting and was a licensed guide in Jefferson, Lewis and Oneida Counties.
Surviving are his wife; four daughters and three sons-in-law; two sons and two daughters-in-law; fourteen grandchildren, fifteen greast-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; and two sisters.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday from the Malecki Funeral Home, Inc., 23 Front St., Vernon. Burial will be in the Verona Cemetery.
