ADAMS -- A Mass of Christian burial will be offered for Mildred M. Koenigs at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Adams, with the Rev. Greggory Leif officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Koenigs, 86, of Adams, a homemaker, died Wednesday (Jan. 1, 1997) at Austin Medical Center.
Mildred M. Gilgenbach was born April 17, 1910, in Lodi Township, Mower County, graduated from Adams High School in 1928 and received a teaching degree from Normal College in Austin. On Feb. 9, 1932, she married Thomas Koenigs at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Adams. Mrs. Koenigs was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and its Rosary Society. She enjoyed cooking, quilting, crocheting, reading and playing cards.
Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Marian (Mrs. Fred) Lickteig of Rose Creek and Theresa (Mrs. Roger) Harding of Nashua, Iowa; four sons, John of Rochester, Fred of Adams, Ron of Cambridge, Ill., and Richard of Stewartville; 22 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Tillie Gilgenbach of Adams, and Agnes Smith and Betty (Mrs. Richard) Badger, both of Rochester; and two brothers, Francis Gilgenbach and Alfred Gilgenbach, both of Adams. She was preceded in death by a daughter and a brother.
Friends may call from 3 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. today and noon to 1 p.m. Saturday at the Adams Funeral Home in Adams. The rosary will be recited at 4 p.m. and there will be a prayer service at 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
