Hanna was the wife of Senator Patrick Flanigan. She was widely known throughout Reno and the surrounding areas, and was active in local social affairs throughout her life.

Born in Grass Valley, California, she came to Virginia City with her parents when she was young. She taught school around Nevada until 1898, when she married Patrick Flanigan.

At the time of her death, Hanna had been employed as an assistant librarian at the Carnegie Library and the Washoe County Library. She was also a charter member of the Twentieth Century Club and the St. Agnes Society.

She was survived by three children: John and Paul Flanigan, and Mrs. Helen Bonetti, as well as a brother, Robert Linehan, and a sister, Miss Vonnie Linehan.
