On March 12, 2014 Marjorie Vaughan Brewer, died in the loving care of her first child Linda Brewer Welch and her husband Jimmie Welch, with whom she had made her home for the last 10 years of her life.
Marjorie Turner Vaughan was born Oct 10, 1919 at home on Charlotte Ave.in West Nashville. She was the only child of Bessie Nicks and Charles Turner Vaughan from whom she got her middle name. Sadly, her father died of consumption when Marjorie was less than 3, leaving a great void in her life. Marjorie started and finished her high school education at David Lipscomb High School in Nashville. It was there that she was to meet her future husband, William Dean Brewer, her beloved "Billy". They went on to David Lipscomb College and married on July 14, 1940 shortly after graduation. She and Billy raised 4 girls Linda, Patricia, Betsy and Ann Ward.
She was a devoted mother and loving and faithful wife, a true help "mete" for Billy in his work as a deacon, elder and gospel preacher as well as his business endeavors. They were the perfect couple.
She was a talented artist, seamstress, cook and decorator. She could do all things well.
She loved all things beautiful and hated the ugly and mean.
Her "delight was in the law of the Lord and in that law she meditated day and night". She taught Sunday School all of her adult life and taught kindergarten at West End Church of Christ for a number of years delighting her students with her storytelling and singing and creative art and craft work .
An encourager to all with whom she spoke. She truly was the "Worthy Woman" of Proverbs 31
