Gaspare Di Dia arrive to the United State on April 16th, 1904 on the S.S. Massilia, departing from Naples, Italy on March 13, 1904. He was age 16 at the time of making this journey. He rode alone on this trip. His father "Andrea" had already had a homestead in Detroit, Michigan. It was hard finding Gaspare Di Dia ship record cause indexing had him listed as De Dia.

Note: Military Records states his first name as Gaspare

GASPER DIDIA

Services for Gasper DiDia, 88, of 18211 Redfern in Detroit, were Jan. 23 at St. Gemme Church with the Rev. Fr. James Ryan officiating. Mr. DiDia died Jan. 8 in Mt. Carmel Hospital. Prayers and scripture service were received at Harry J. Will Funeral Home, and burial was in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.

Mr. DiDia was a retired machine setter from the Dodge main plant. He was a member of St. Gemma Church. He is survived by his sons, Andrew of Farmington Hills and Joseph of Detroit; daughter, Mrs. Catherine Stevens of Detroit; and three grandchildren.

1888, the 25th of October at the hour of 9am in the town hall before Pietro Pugliese, official of the vital records office of Marsala appeared Andrea Di Dia, 33, farmer, of Marsala, who declares that at the hour of 3am on the 23rd of this month in the home at Villa Ponte #111 to Caterina Licari, his wife, was born a baby boy who was presented and given the name Gaspare. Witnesses are Antonino Licari, 42 and Vincenzo Licari, 47, both farmers.
