JOHN W. DENMAN
VENICE - John W. Denman Jr., 82, of Booth Rd., Venice, NY, died Thursday, October 18, 2007, at his home after a brief illness.
Mr. Denman was born April 24, 1925 in Owasco, the son of the late John Denman Sr. and Florence VanAiken Denman. He was a resident of Venice since 1945 where he operated a dairy farm until the mid-50's. He had been employed for NYS D.O.T. as a supervisor until his retirement in 1985 and grew Christmas trees at the farm.
John enjoyed bowling, playing horseshoes, snowmobiling and hunting. He was a former member of the Long Hill F.D. and the Auburn Coin Club.
John is survived by his wife, Edith (Edie) Avery Denman of Venice. They had just celebrated their 20th anniversary October 3rd. Also surviving are four sons, Bruce (Chris), Gary (Terri) of Venice, Kenny (Sandy) of Aurora, and Eugene of Venice; a daughter, Debra (Randy) Scott of Venice; two stepdaughters, Joyce (Don) Quick of Candor and Kathy (Bill) Landon of Poplar Ridge; ten grandchildren, Kenneth, Amy, Ben, Andrew, Amber, Brian, Casey and Brittany Denman and Jason and Michelle Scott; ten step grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Robert (Ginger) Denman of Ohio; a sister, Jane (David) Porten of Auburn, NY; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his first wife, Gloria Hares Denman in 1986; and two sisters, Emma DeRyke and Carolyn Bell.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m., Sunday, October 21, 2007, at the Wade Funeral Home, 22 Church St., Moravia. Burial will be in Owasco Rural Cemetery. Calling hours will be held from 3:00-6:00 p.m., Saturday, October 20th, at the funeral home.
