Charles B. Palmer, Stonington Man, Dies at Age of 80
Charles B. Palmer, 80, a deacon of the Stonington Baptist church, died Saturday at the Jerry H. Brown farm, Stonington-Old Mystic road.
About five years ago, Mr. Palmer underwent an operation at the Home Memorial hospital, this city, and was considered in excellent heath until he was suddenly taken ill six weeks ago.
Mr. Palmer was born in Stonington, April 4, 1847, and was a son of the late Deacon Simeon Palmer and Caroline Edith F. Tittany.
For many years Mr. Palmer was engaged as interior decorator in Stonington, but upon the death of Jerry H. Brown he took over the latter*s farm at Stonington-Old Mystic road in 1916. Since then he had devoted all of his time to the care of the farm.
Mr. Palmer was twice married. His first wife was Emma Jane Smith of Stonington. His second wife, Fannie E. Brown, to whom he was married Feb. 28, 1899, survives him. Besides his second wife, Mr. Palmer leaves two daughters, Mrs. Phobe Palmer Peterson and Mrs. Mabel B. Ripley of New York and a brother, Jerome Palmer of Stonington.
Funeral services will be held at his late home tomorrow afternoon at 2 o'clock. The Rev. Henry M. Thomp- son, pastor of the Stonington Baptist church, will officlate. Burial will
be in Elm Grove cemetery, Mystic.
