NEWTON FALLS - Anita Mae Terry, 88, died late Thursday, April 7, 2011.

She was born July 30, 1922, in Warren, the daughter of father Harold Elmer Nims and mother Lilah Mae Shepard-Nims.

She graduated from Newton Falls High School in 1940 and dedicated her professional career to the U.S. government, including work at the Ravenna Arsenal during World War II, the Selective Service and HUD. She retired from the Social Security Office in 1983.
Anita epitomized what it means to live a full life. Even in an old age, her youthful spirit and love of big band music and ballroom and swing dancing kept her mind sharp and her body young. She faced adversities with elegance and tenacity, and celebrated with vigor not only her own accomplishments but also those of her family and friends.

Anita is survived by her sons, Thomas F. Terry III of Knoxville, Tenn., and Tim F. Terry of Newton Falls; her grandchildren, Carrie A. Terry/Cook of Orlando, Fla., and Tobin F. Terry of Dayton; great-grandchildren, Bryce T. Cook and Adianna L. Terry; and brothers, Harold E. Nims Jr. of Columbus and Paul L. Nims of Las Vegas.

Anita was predeceased by husbands Thomas F. Terry Jr. and Parker Lyle; brothers Devere E. Nims, Roy C. Nims, Eugene C. Nims, Louis H. Nims and Lyle M. Nims; and sister Helen Nims/James.

Arrangements were handled by the Borowski Memorial Home, Newton Falls.
