Orville Hoerz, born 9 February 1920 in Sheboygan, passed away at his home in Port Richey, Florida on 10 May 1990. He was the only son of Julius and Augusta (née Spehn) Hoerz.

He married Dorene Giefer at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Kohler on 11 May 11 1946.

Orv was a retired Battalion Chief with the Sheboygan Fire Department and, in 1975, received the first Fire Fighter of the Year Award. He was active in the Handicap Swim program and the Swim For Your Life Program at the Y.M C.A. He served in the Eighth Air Force in England during World War II and was a lifetime member of the V.F.W. While in Sheboygan, he was a member of SL Peter Claver Parish where he sang in the choir. He was C.Y.O. director at St. Peter Claver and District CY.O. hobby director. He was a member of the Catholic Male Chorus and the Civic Chorus while in Sheboygan.

After retiring, he and Dorene moved to Florida in 1983. Ha was membership chairman of tha Timber Oaks Golf Club and a member of tha Timber Oaks Community Association.

He is survived by his wife; one son, Greg, Brooklyn, New York; four daughters, Susan Messner, Eileen (Mrs. Craig) Simenz, Sheboygan; Nancy (Mrs. Jerome) Wagner, West Bend; and Mary, stationed in Egypt. Also surviving are six grandchildren: Kevin and Kristen Messner; Adam Wagner; and Brandon, Olivia, and Elliot Simenz; a sister-in-law, Lu Giefer, Sheboygan and a brother and sister-in-law, Ira and Gen Giefer, Hazlewood, Missouri.

A Memorial Mass was held at St. Michael's Catholic Church, Port Richey, Florida, on May 14, 1990. His body was cremated and the remains interred in Arlington National Cemetery. A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Peter Claver Catholic Church on Tuesday, 5 June 1990.
