TAOPI -- A Mass of Christian burial will be offered for James E. Boe at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Adams, with the Rev. Virgil S. Duellman officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Mr. Boe, 75, of Taopi, a longtime area farmer, died Wednesday (June 1, 1994) at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester.
Born Oct. 28, 1918, in Taopi, he attended an area rural school and lived in the area all his life. From 1941 to 1945 he served in the Army with duty in the European theater. On Jan. 22, 1949, he married Martha Koenigs at Sacred Heart Rectory in Meyer, Iowa. In addition to farming, he owned and operated a tilling business. Mr. Boe was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the Adams American Legion.
Survivors include his wife; four sons, Ronald and Michael, both of Adams, and William and Wayne, both of Taopi; three daughters, Joyce (Mrs. Greg) Walters of Rochester, LeeAnn Schneider of Austin and Julie (Mrs. Steve) Salveson of Minot, N.D.; 19 grandchildren; three brothers, Harlan of Le Roy, Vernon of Whitehall, Mont., and Donald of Austin; and five sisters, Juletta Wigness of Bellflower, Calif., Helen Palmer and Hazel Hall, both of Grand Meadow, and Nona (Mrs. Willis) Erie and Shirley (Mrs. Ray) Harrington, both of Le Roy. He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, an infant son, a grandson, two brothers and two sisters.
Friends may call from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Saturday at the Adams Funeral Home in Adams. There will be a prayer service at 4 p.m. today, and the rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
