Josephine Church and her husband William Askea owned and operated an upscale Hotel in Tallulah Falls, Rabun County, GA for several years. The Hotel was near the railroad running north into North Carolina. Josephine corresponded with her sister Martha in Hayesville, Clay County, NC to keep in touch with the family news. In one letter dated Jan 26 1913 to her sister Martha Ann Church Passmore in Hayesville, NC , Josephine explained about the comments that publishers had made on the book of poems by her daughter, Gertrude Askea, " The Soul of the Violin" , Gertrude had published. Gertrude had passed away a few months before she had written the letter. She commented that she still had the three pet dogs of Gertrude and the little bird came every day to Gertrude's window to sing. Josephine said she must go to see how her mother (Martha) was doing shortly and also go down to Atlanta. Josephine is buried beside her father and mother in West View Cemetery, Section 12 lot 461, Atlanta, Fulton County, GA. The inscription on the grave marker....."Not Dead but Sleepeth
