Eleazer Adams Tillett Sr., 76, went to be with his Lord and Savior Oct. 10, 2005. He had been a resident of Norfolk for 40 years and was the pastor of Bethel Praise and Worship Center for three years. He was greatly loved and will be missed. His faithfulness will be echoed through his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Loren and Esmeralda Tillett and his sisters, Merle Tillett, Vilma E. Smith and Anna Mae Hickman. He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Phyllis Barton Tillett; his children, Sheron T. Holmes and husband Donald, Pamela S. Jimerson and husband Wayne, Eleazer A. Tillett Jr. and wife Jenifer, Angel L. Tillett, Michael Strickland and sister Tiffany; his sisters and brother, Corinne Sawyer, Loren E. Jr., Esmeralda Watson, Merle Hail and Lioma Johnston. His legacy will be carried on by his eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. His funeral will be held Thursday at 1:30 p.m. performed by Donald Holmes at Bethel Praise and Worship Center in Norfolk. Burial will follow in Rosewood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends in Smith and Williams Funeral Home, 818 Norview Ave., Norfolk, today between 3 and 5 p.m. and 7 and 9 p.m. Flowers can be sent to the funeral home or donations may be made to the Bethel Praise and Worship Center building fund.
