Wagner, Wanda

Wanda Lorraine was born on May 20, 1925, in Minneapolis, Minnesota the daughter of William and Anna Marie Ester (Lee) Dalager. As a teenager she would help take care of little kids and her love of children was evident from a young age. She attended Glenwood High School and graduated in 1945.

Wanda was united in marriage to Wayne Meggers in 1947, to this union five children were born. Wanda was a wonderful mother who was stern when she needed to be but was always there for her children. She was the stabilizing factor in the family. She taught all her children to be loving, caring adults.

In 1974, Wanda married Florian Wagner. They were wonderful dancers and enjoyed going dancing with friends and family. Her family will never forget the Christmas presents she made for them. She made costumes, blankets, quilts and other things, giving them as gifts to her many friends and relatives.

Wanda will be remembered for her positive outlook, perseverance, and would never say anything bad about anyone.

Wanda died on Sunday, February 9, 2014 at her home surrounded by family.

She is survived by her ten children: William Meggers, Kathy (Wes) Wiley, Timothy (Susan) Meggers, Peter Meggers, Mary (Dan) Hanson, Tom (Linda) Wagner, Jean (Richard) Bitzan, Jane (Ray) Skwira, Cliff (Michele) Wagner, Jennifer (Curt) Lysfjord; 35 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren; four brothers: Bill, Richard, Kenneth, Jerry; sister, Myra Brennden.

She was preceded in death by husbands, Wayne and Florian; son, Steven Meggers; daughter, Irene Roers; son Donald Wagner; grandchildren: Chad Wagner, Eric Roers; sisters: Eleanor Dodds, Arlene Frederick; brothers: Harlan Dalager & Hans Dalager.

Memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 15, 2014, 2:00 PM at Grace Lutheran Church in Brandon. Burial will be at Geneva Cemetery.

Arrangements are with the Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria, Minnesota.
