Lillie E. Vitek, 99, Wymore, died Monday night, Oct. 3, 2005, at the Wymore Good Samaritan Center. She was born April 28, 1906, on a farm near Virginia, Neb., where she spent her childhood and was a graduate of Virginia High School. She attended Peru State Teachers College and received her Bachelors degree from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. She moved to Wymore in the mid-1950s, taught at the Virginia Public Schools grade school, at the Wymore Public Schools and later Southern Elementary School for almost 50 years, retiring in 1971. She was a member of the Wymore United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. She was a member of the former Wymore Business and Professional Women and professional teachers' organizations. Her hobbies included baking, especially kolaches, and gardening.

Survivors: nephews, Alan Schuster and wife Margaret of Lincoln, Dr. Michael Schuster and wife Cheryl of Omaha, Lawrence Penkava and wife Dorothy of Salem, Ore., and Leeroy Ottersberg of Beatrice; nieces, Donna Russell and husband Leroy of Ooltewah, Tenn., Esther Grapes and husband Bill of Dallas, Texas, and Elaine Penkava of Denver, Colo. She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Anna (Shinn) Vitek; brothers, Frank and Albert Vitek; sisters, Agnes Penkava, Vlasta Vitek, Mary Schuster, and an infant sister.

Funeral: 10:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 7, Laughlin-Hoevet Funeral Home, Ninth and K streets, Wymore, the Rev. Richard Sykes officiating. Burial: Virginia Cemetery, Virginia, Neb. Visitation at the funeral Home after 9 a.m. Thursday until time of service Friday. Memorials to the Wymore United Methodist Church and the Wymore Good Samaritan Center with the funeral home in charge. Laughlin-Hoevet Funeral Home, Wymore, in charge of arrangements.
