Opal Pearl Alexander was born in Las Cruces, New Mexico on August 1, 1923. She departed this world peacefully on March 12, 2014 in De Queen, Arkansas at the age of 90 years 8 months and 12 days.

During her long and wonderful life Opal served and devoted herself in many ways to so many lives, as a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend to so many. She contributed so many wonderful memories to everyone she came to know and love. She will be remembered for her many years of service as the manager of the Holiday Inn in Idabel, Oklahoma, as well as her many years as a sorority mother to so many young women at New Mexico State University. Many who knew Opal saw her strong spirit in her. We also loved to listen to her stories of her many great adventures she had known over the years. Opal spent so many of her years as a mentor to so many, and lived and defined her life as we all should, that of a free spirit who held back nothing.

She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, one sister, and her son, Geddy Alexander Mathis.

She is survived by her daughter of Las Vegas, NV; three brothers and sisters-in-law, five grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends and loved ones of Opal on Friday, March 14, 2014 at Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen, Arkansas from 6-8 p.m.
