Jesse Ray Evans, age 77, died Monday night, March 10, 2014, in Johnston Medical Center, after a period of declining health. Born June 9, 1936 in Johnston County to the late Jesse Clarence and Lois Hines Evans, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Audrey Carolyn Evans. Ray was a retired farmer who still loved farming, hunting and spending time with his family, friends and church. He was a faithful, lifelong member of Hephzibah Baptist Church where he served in a variety of roles including, Sunday school teacher, Deacon and Trustee.
