Age 89 of Roberts St, Elmira passed away Sunday, March 9, 2014 at Arnot-Ogden Medical Center following decling health. Born on September 24, 1924 in Shunk, PA; Vernon was the son of the late, Daniel & Bertha Vargeson Morgan.
He served his country during WWII in the US Army. Vernon married the love of his life, Frances J. Woodward of January 3, 1948. He retired from Schweizer Aircraft Corp., Big Flats following 41 years of dedicated service. His many interests included, family time, dinning out, road trips, hunting and fishing.
Surviving is his loving family, wife, Frances J. Woodward Morgan; children, Blanche (Jack) Williamson, Charlotte Vanness, Harry (Teresa) Morgan, Terry (Elley) Morgan, John (Tammy) Morgan, and Roxanne Elliott; many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Vernon was one of seven children.
In addition to his parents, Vernon was predeceased by children, Sandra Morgan, Vernon D. Morgan Jr., and Georgia A. Heath. Family and friends will be received at Caywood's Funeral Home & Gardens, 1126 Broadway, Southport/Elmira on Friday, March 14, 2014 between the hours of 10-11 a.m. Services will follow the visitation at 11 a.m. Full military honors will be accorded Mr. Morgan in Fitzsimmons Cemetery, Southport.
