Albert J. Palumbo was a well-known teacher of more than 30 years in Southington, Connecticut.

Mr. Palumbo, the son of Albert J. and Marie (Valenti) Palumbo Sr., graduated from the University of Hartford and received his Master's degree from Central Connecticut State University.

He was a teacher in the Southington school system for 34 years, teaching at Lincoln-Lewis School before moving to John F. Kennedy Junior High (later Kennedy Middle School.) He would retire from the Kennedy Social Studies Department in 1995.

Mr. Palumbo was also active in the community for several years. He was a former chairman of the Southington Library Board of Trustees and at the time of his death was a member of the Board of Water Commissioners and the local Democratic Town Committee.

Shortly after Mr. Palumbo's passing, John F. Kennedy Middle School established an award in his name to be presented annually to a student outstanding in Social Studies.

Mr. Palumbo was survived by his wife, Gloria (Arre) Palumbo; two sons; a daughter; a brother; two granddaughters; and other relatives.
