Martin K. Askerneese, 60, of 1228 Howard St., Bethlehem, died Thursday in St. Luke's Hospital.
He was a cement finisher for the Masonry and Bricklayers Union 233, Bethlehem, for many years.
Born in Farrell, Mercer County, he was a son of the late Alvah Askerneese and Pearleaner (Allen) Askerneese McClendon.
He was a member of St. Paul's Baptist Church, Bethlehem.
He was an Army veteran of the Korean conflict.
Askerneese was a past exalted ruler and a trustee of Elks Bethal Lodge 1284, Bethlehem.
Survivors: Son, Martin K. of Bronx, N.Y.; daughters, Joselyn of Bethlehem and Regina Smith of Allentown; brothers, Alvah L. of Youngstown, Ohio, Wilby of Sharon, Mercer County, and Paul and Freddie, both of Bethlehem; sisters, Mrs. Magdeline Esterling, Mrs. Barbara Egglespon and Shirley Parks, all of Bethlehem, and Elouise Brodie of Farrell; companion, Amy Simpkins, with whom he resided, and six grandchildren. A son, Mark Smith, died last year.
