Opal Hilary Twitchel, 79, California, died Monday at Bristol Manor, California. She was born Sept. 20, 1916, in Miller County, a daughter of Columbus and Elsie Belle Russell Brown. She was married Sept. 20, 1932, to A. R. Twitchel, who died April 24, 1974.

She worked as a seamstress at California Manufacturing Co. until her retirement. She was a member of Main Street Baptist Church, California.

Survivors include: two sons, Les Twitchel, Russellville, and Rex Twitchel, Overland Park, Kan.; six daughters, Kitty Crow, Belton, Sue Elmore, Clinton, Miss., Jane Jarrett, Montreal, Barbara Bond, Jefferson City, Juanita Brown, California, and Rozi Wood, Eagle, Colo.; two sisters, Grace Retherford, Sedalia, and Lynn Beck, state of Georgia; 20 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. One infant son, Norris Edward Twitchel, preceded her in death.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Main Street Baptist Church. The Rev. Ken Mathes will officiate. Burial will be in High Point Cemetery, High Point. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Weber and Sons Funeral Home, California.
