Valeria Freeman passed away unexpectedly from this life on Sunday, March 9, 2014.
She was a homemaker and a volunteer "Pink Lady" with the Womans Hospital Auxiliary giving over 8500 hours.
Valeria is at peace now in heaven with her son, Reginald Dwayne Freeman.
She was born on November 13, 1936 in the Compromise community near Liberty, Mississippi to Asa and Odie Barkdull.
At the age of 4, her mother died during the birth of her brother Marion Louis Barkdull, and then she was raised by her grandparents, Hattie and Ernest Caston.
She moved to Baton Rouge after completing high school, met and married the love of her life, Reggie Freeman.
She is survived by her husband of fifty-eight years and one month, Thomas Reginald Freeman; daughter and son-in-law, Theresa and Dan Martin; two precious grandchildren, Christian Thomas Martin and Courtney Danielle Martin, who she always referred to as her heart; and a sister, Fairy Joe Day.
She is preceded in death by her son, Reginald Dwayne Freeman; parents, Asa and Odie Barkdull; and brothers, Marion Louis Barkdull and Harry Leroy (Barkdull) Barksdale.
