Louis O. Burl, 77, died Sunday, Nov. 23, 2003, at his residence.

He was born in Altona on June 6, 1926, the son of Orville and Cecile (Peryer) Burl.

He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II.

He was employed as a mechanic for M.A. Jerry, the Town of Plattsburgh and Livingston Motors for many years.

He was a life member of the DAV Chapter 179 of Plattsburgh, American Legion Post 20 of Plattsburgh and was a member of St. Alexander's Church in Morrisonville.

He is survived by seven sons and daughters-in-law, Louis and Ann Burl of West Plattsburgh, Dana and Betty Burl of Plattsburgh, Keith and Rosemary Burl of Morrisonville, Niles and Darlene Burl of Plattsburgh, Dwight and Joyce Burl of Plattsburgh, Robin and Brenda Burl of Plattsburgh and Preston and Marilyn Burl of West Chazy; seven daughters and sons-in-law, Rosalind and Francis Young of West Chazy, Joan and Gary McClatchie of Plattsburgh, Sheryl and Kevin Frenyea of Saranac, Laura and William Frenyea of Morrisonville, Lena and Mark Ducatte of West Chazy, Stella and Wayne Chase of Morrisonville and April and David Wright of Saranac; two sisters, Elizabeth Mooney of Plattsburgh and Elinor Bedard and her fianc? George Bredig of Oak Ridge, Tenn.; a sister-in-law, Lola Burl of Plattsburgh; 44 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

His wife, Carmen (Rock) Burl died in 1975. His parents; two brothers, Norman and Kenneth Burl; a sister, Corrine Burl; and a daughter, Mary Theresa Burl, also died earlier.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the O'Neill-Redden-Drown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday from St. Alexander's Church in Morrisonville. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to The Disabled American Veterans, Hospice of the North Country or the American Cancer Society.
