Eugene Boyle McRae was born September 20, 1929 and was the second son of Henry Clay McRae and Florence Boyle McRae. He grew up in Hamlet, NC and attended Hamlet High School, graduating in 1948. He was hired by Seaboard Coast Line Railroad in 1952 as a machinist, where he worked in the big blue building until retiring in 1984. Eugene was an avid hunter and fisherman as well as a collector of antique muzzleloader rifles. He had an appreciation of family and history which he passed on to his children. Eugene McRae passed away on July 4, 1986 from complications of diabetes and heart issues.
