Elmer H. "Buddy" Rogers, 82, of the Tapoco Community near Robbinsville, NC, passed away on Sunday, March 9, 2014, at his residence. He was preceded in death by his soul mate and loving wife of 58 years, Zelma Lee Jenkins Rogers, his parents, S.C. and Julia Powell Rogers, his grandchildren, Aileen Howell and Shelby Rogers, and his son in law, Rev. Mike Eller. He was a faithful member and deacon of Robbinsville First Baptist Church. He retired from the hydroelectric division of Alcoa, Inc. following 42 years of service. He was an avid rabbit hunter in his younger days. He is survived by his children, Raymond and wife Mary Ann Williams of Robbinsville, NC, Catherine Rogers Eller of Raleigh, NC, Douglas Rogers of Tapoco, NC, and Tracie Rogers of Gatlinburg, TN; his grandchildren, Raymond Williams, Jr., Shane Eller, Tyler Eller, Sarah Rogers Secaur, Seth Rogers, Kyle West, and Kaleb West; his great grandchildren, Josh Howell, Shane Eller, Jr., Hannah Secaur, and Colton West; and his sister, Beatrice Williams of Maryville, TN, and Johnnie Ruth Rogers of Lakeworth, FL. He has several nieces and nephews. A private graveside service will be held at Lone Oak Baptist Church Cemetery at 11:00 am Wednesday, March 12, 2014.
