Obituary:
Mrs. Betty Jean Pilgrim, age 80, of Rome, Georgia, passed away on March 8, 2014.

She was born on May 3, 1933, in Heflin, AL, to the late Monroe J. and Willie Chandler Terrell.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse Pilgrim; a sister, Ollie Hammond; and two brothers, John and Leroy Terrell.

During her life, Mrs. Pilgrim worked in the retail industry and was a member of Fruithurst Baptist Church.

She is survived by her two daughters and sons-in-law, Lisa and Alfredo "Freddie" Chavez of Rome and Regina and Phil Flanagan of Douglasville; a son and daughter-in-law, Johnny and Melaine Parson of Euharlee, GA; two sisters, Louise Helton and Marie Driver; three grandchildren; and one great-grandson.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 12, 2014 at 2:00 PM EST from Fruithurst Baptist Church with Rev. James Owens officiating. She will lie in state at the church from 1:00 to 2:00 PM EST.

Pallbearers serving will be Mitchell White, Ian Flanagan, Phil Flanagan, and Freddie Chavez.

Interment will follow in the Fruithurst City Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, March 11, between the hours of 6:00 and 9:00 PM.

Miller Funeral Home (Tallapoosa, GA) was in charge of the arrangements.
