Wayne Russell Hobbs, Sr., age 74 of Highland, IL, died Sunday, March 09, 2014, at his residence in Highland, IL. He was born November 16, 1939, in Trenton, IL, the son of William and Marie (nee Haas) Hobbs. On December 17, 1966, he married Norma J Vosholler who survives. He was a member of United Auto Workers-Hazelwood, Missouri. Wayne was born and reared in Trenton, IL. He attended the Trenton Schools and then enlisted in the US Marine Corp. He served From 7/1/59-4/12/63 with duty in the South Pacific. Upon his discharge, he started to work for Ford Motor Company. After 30 years and 3 months of service he retired from Ford in 1993. He and his wife enjoyed traveling, they had cruised the Caribbean a number of times and had been to Hawaii. Wayne followed the baseball Cardinals and Cubs – especially the Cubs. He liked to plant a large garden every year. Time with his grandsons was very important. Anything John Wayne was special. Survivors include : Wife – Norma J. Hobbs (nee Vosholler), Highland, IL Daughter – Starla K. (Howard) Schuchardt, Highland, IL Son – Wayne R. "Chip" Hobbs, Jr., Highland, IL Grandson – Lance Corporal Hunter W. Schuchardt, USMC, USS Boxer in the Pacific, Grandson – Cody M. Schuchardt, Highland, IL He was preceded in death by : Son – Tracy Allen Hobbs DOD-04/19/2009 Brother – Raymond Hobbs Brother – Larry Hobbs Brother – Terry Hobbs Brother – Gene Hobbs Father – William Hobbs Mother – Marie Hobbs (nee Haas) Arrangements are being handled by Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, Illinois. Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Thursday, March 13, 2014, at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL, and from 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM, on Friday, March 14, 2014, at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL. Memorial service will be at 11:00 AM on Friday, March 14, 2014, at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL, with Rev. Christopher W. Hill officiating. Interment will be at Saint Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Highland, IL. Memorial contributions may be made to Heartland Hospice.
