She was the daughter of Benjamin Stowell Souther and Ellen Rebecca Stuchberry.Shortly after Ellen and Benjamin were married they went out to the Burcham Ranch, (also called Los Florez) in Summit Valley, where for five years they were employed on the ranch and later homesteaded 160 acres there.
Emma Elizabeth Souther died circa 1885 at San Bernardino, San Bernardino, California.3 Emma died at a young age of water colora and lack of immediate doctors' care. She and her younger sister Bessie died about the same time. "Bennie" seemed to feel he remembered someone saying that it was because of some type of epidemic.
