He was born May 15, 1921, in Strum to Fred and Clara (Engen) Hagen. Following his graduation from Mondovi High School in 1938, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served over five years in Europe.
On August 3, 1946, Arnold married Alvina Tollefson in Eleva. Shortly thereafter, they moved to Eau Claire where he worked at Presto, Walter’s Brewing Company and Uniroyal. In 1960, they purchased a Walter’s distributorship in Cameron, Wis., where he owned and operated his business until 1966.They returned to Eau Claire and Arnold worked at and retired from Uniroyal in 1983.
Arnold will be remembered for many things including service to his country, socializing with friends, enjoying the Packers, Brewers and Badgers, collecting and delivering food to various food pantries, and his devotion to family. His unconditional love for family will be re-membered and forever appreciated.
Arnold’s wife, Alvina, died in 1969. In 1978, he married Louise Hanson. She passed away in 1990. Also preceding him in death were his parents; his brother, Orville; first born grandson; and grandson, Craig Burrows.
Arnold is survived by his two sons, Tom (Claudia) of Spooner, Kim (Gail) of Eau Claire, son David (Josie) Hanson of Eau Claire, daughters, Connie (Townsend) Collins of Knoxville, Tenn., and Kristine (Brian) Fenner of Wisconsin Rapids; grandchildren, Rebecca (Chris) Haase of Kimberly, Sheri (Gib) Salm of Rice Lake, Scott (Alicia) Hagen of Portland, Ore., Trever Hagen of Prague, Czech Republic, Jackie (Ryan) Dahlgren of Eau Claire, Jonathon (Brooke Labar) of Madison, Todd Burrows of Eau Claire, Elizabeth (Alan) Lasseter of Birmingham, Ala., Catherine (James) Roberson of Knoxville, Tenn.; and nine great-grandchildren; his brother, Raymond of Lodi; and his sister, Myrt Bollinger of Mondovi. In addition, Arnold is survived by his Eastridge family.
Funeral services will be at Grace Lutheran Church on Tuesday, December 6, at 11 a.m., with Pastor Rolf Nestingen officiating. Internment will be at Forest Hill cemetery.
Family and friends are invited to join the family immediately following the service for a celebration of Arnold’s life.
Memorials may be given to the St. Francis Food Pantry in memory of Arnold.
