Donald Raymond Hager, age 83, of Mankato, died Tuesday, October 26, 2010 at Immanuel St. Joseph's Hospital in Mankato.

Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, October 29, 2010 at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church in Mankato, with Fr. John Wilmot officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Thursday at Mankato Mortuary with a 6 p.m. prayer service. Visitation will continue one hour before the service at the church on Friday. Memorials may be given to St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church.

Donald Hager was born June 23, 1927 in Madison Lake to Raymond and Marie (Baynes) Hager. He graduated from Waterville High School in 1945. Donald served in the US Navy on the USS City of Dalhart from 1945-1946. He later attended Mankato State Teacher's College, earning a two year diploma, as well as a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education. On August 19, 1948 he married Leona Halos in Mankato. Donald then graduated from the University of Minnesota, earning a Master of Arts degree. After teaching in Revere, MN and Wells, MN, they settled in Mankato in 1951. He retired as an Elementary School Principal in 1986.

Donald was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, Minnesota Education Association, Knights of Columbus, and Mankato Post #11 American Legion. He enjoyed restoring vintage John Deere tractors, collecting tools, musical instruments, and singing and playing guitar in the band "The Jolly Aces". Donald was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

Donald is survived by his wife, four children and spouses, six grandchildren, one great grandson, sister and husband, two sisters-in-law, and nieces and nephews [survivors names omitted].

He is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Ramona Fitzloff; brothers, H. Joseph and Cryril Hager.
