Mrs. Ann Garner, 76, of the Lester community, was born July 23, 1937 to Charles and Ruth McGaughey Gibson in Lester. She passed away Sunday, March 9, 2014, at Lakeside Nursing Center in Lake City.
Ann lived all of her life in the Lester-Dixie community and was a 1955 graduate of Dixie High School. She worked several years for Citizens Bank before devoting full time as office manager of the family cotton ginning operation.
Ann was an active life member of the United Methodist Church and was currently a member of Cornerstone United Methodist Church. In addition to her parents, Ann was preceded in death by a brother, Max Gibson, and a sister, Gail Gibson.
Survivors include her husband, Billy Garner of the home;
1 son and daughter-in-law: Gregg and Shelia Garner of Dixie;
1 sister and her husband, Joyce and Robert Box of Pocahontas;
2 grandchildren and their spouses: Ashley Ann and Josh Baker of Jonesboro and Aaron and Kristin Garner of Paragould;
1 great granddaughter, Abigail Ann Baker; and
Several loving nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
A private graveside service will be held in Pine Log Cemetery with Rev. Chris Hemund officiating.
Active pallbearers include: Len B. Nall, Blake Robertson, Bo Ginger, JR Garcia, Tom Baker, Ronnie Forthmon and Bobby Box. Honorary pallbearers will be Robert Box, Ted Mabry, Leonard Nelson and Vernon Sims.
Visitation will be Monday from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Emerson Funeral Home.
The family wishes to extend deepest gratitude to the staff at Lakeside Nursing Center and Dierksen Memorial Hospice for the excellent care given to Ann for the past two months
