1929-2014
Maurice E. Brooks went to rest on March 4, 2014. We lost a truly one of a kind, hardworking man who was dear to our hearts. He was 84 years Young.
He was born December 3, 1929 to Thomas Joseph and Eva Irene (Long) Brooks in Compton, California.
Maurice led a colorful long life full of adventures. He was a logger, charter boat owner/operator, and an avid motorcycle rider. He was an entrepreneur and his wheels never stopped turning. He was always there to lend a hand to a friend in need.
In 1960, Maurice and his wife, Jo opened a gas station in Glenwood that became Brooks Cut Rate Auto Parts. Thanks to the hard work of Maurice, the store is still operating 54 years later. Later in life he enjoyed hauling rock in his Mack dump truck, riding his Harley, going to Auctions and family get togethers. He was well known for his annual trip to Hood River to buy apples which he distributed to friends and family. Many will miss seeing him drive by in his silver Dodge pickup truck. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife Jo; daughter Pam; son Tom; 5 grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, March 14, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at Major Family Funeral Home in Springfield. Interment will be in Laurel Grove Cemetery in Eugene.
