Son of Alfred & Melinda Guyette.

Martin served as a Staff Sergeant & Waist Gunner on B-17G #42-97764, 731st Bomber Squadron, 452nd Bomber Group, U.S. Army Air Force.

He resided in Cheshire County, New Hampshire prior to the war.

He enlisted in the Army on February 4, 1943 in Manchester, New Hampshire. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed in the manufacture of boots and shoes and also as Single, without dependents.

B-17G #42-97764 & B-17G "Hi-Blower" #42-97616 both suffered from what was known as "prop wash".

B-17G #42-97616, which was suppose to be the lead plane, passed over top of B-17G #42-97764, which was in the lead position at that time, causing both aircraft problems with "prop wash".

B-17G #42-97616 ended up colliding with B-17G #42-97764 by hitting their rear section. Both B-17's crashed near Merseburg, Germany.

Martin was "Killed In Action" in this crash during the war.

He was awarded the Purple Heart.
